The Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve and give His life for many. ~ Matthew 20:28
How often we so easily forget that this life we live is not about us. How will you spend your day? Will you spend it absorbed in yourself, or will you look outside of yourself to the life that is going on around you and the needs that you see in the eyes of each person who passes you by?
True joy is found not in serving yourself. If that were the case, you would finally arrive at the spot where you feel satisfied. One can also argue that in service to others you will not find satisfaction either; as you will be faced with the needs that are so immense that you will be ignited to do more, serve more, give more, help more. But this route of living, you will find is fueled by faith and it is inspiring and it will grow and you will pour yourself out for the good of others and in your exhaustion find peace; in your weariness, rest; in the heartbreak of others, love as you walk alongside them and carry the burdens of their lives.
May you find today, many ways to be the person that God created you to be. Do not be a complacent consumer; a taker. Be a giver. It is the key to true satisfaction. For as Jesus says in Matthew 10:39, whoever finds his life will loose it; but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it. This my friends are the words of life where you find the meaning of this journey of life that we are all on.
